Building confidence is something many parents hope to see in their children.
But confidence is often misunderstood.

Many people believe children need confidence before they try something new. In reality, confidence usually develops after children have opportunities to practice, make mistakes, and experience success over time.
Confidence Is Built Through Experience
Children develop confidence when they are encouraged to:
try new activities
solve problems
practice skills
work through challenges
learn from mistakes
This process may look different for every child.
Some children jump into new experiences easily.
Others need more support, encouragement, and time.
Both approaches are normal.
Anxiety Can Affect Confidence
Children who experience anxiety may avoid situations that feel uncertain or uncomfortable.
This does not mean they are unwilling to learn.
Often, they are trying to protect themselves from feeling overwhelmed.
Supporting children through anxiety with patience, preparation, and encouragement can help them build confidence over time.
The Importance of Emotional Support
Children learn best when they feel emotionally safe.
When children know they are supported regardless of success or failure, they are often more willing to take healthy risks and try new things.
Confidence grows through experiences where children feel:
supported
accepted
encouraged
understood

Because confidence is not something children are born with.
It is something they build, one small step at a time. 💙
