Curious about the diagnosis process? Some cases can be identified as early as 18 months old, while a reliable diagnosis is typically made by age 2. However, it's not uncommon to receive a diagnosis later in life, even during the teenage or adult years.

During your child's autism evaluation, they will be seen by a developmental psychologist. The evaluation length can vary, ranging from an hour or more, and it may occur in one day or over multiple visits. It all depends on the type of evaluation and the number of providers involved.

If one of our young patients requires a psychological evaluation, we kindly request that parents complete the questionnaire with assistance from our health professionals.

What to expect during the evaluation? Prepare for a combination of ASD-specific assessment tools and behavioral assessment tools. Our team of experts will also gather information through observation, interaction, and examination of your child's medical, educational, and social history. With a focus on behavior and ASD-specific tools, we ensure a thorough evaluation.

After a deep dive into your child's developmental history and test results, you can discuss the findings with a developmental psychologist. This follow-up visit is separate and typically takes place about a week or more after the evaluation.
